The production company, Apostolis Berdebes Non Profit, was formed in 2012 by friends of Apostolis Berdebes, a rare and wonderful human being, who left early, a day before his 31st birthday, having devoted his short life to the struggle for democracy in Greece during the years of the junta and later to the develoapostolispment of the historical and cultural ties of the Greek American community with our roots.

The first documentary of the company, “Greek American Radicals – the untold story” (2013), was devoted to his memory.  It was our first stop in the continuing effort to unfold the history of radicalism among Greek immigrants in the US and it was a very ambitious project spanning four decades of history, 1920-1960.

Our second documentary, the award-winning “Ludlow, Greek Americans in the Colorado Coal War”, a 2016 production, tells the story of Greek miners in Colorado who were part of the first immigration wave to the US, 1900-1920.  We are  in the planning stage for our third production that will cover the period of the Civil rights movement, Vietnam, the years of the Greek junta, and beyond.

From the start, we had dear friends around us who supported the production of our first film.  Ludlow has brought us new, equally dear, friends without whom we would not have made the film.  They are our extended family and we thank them from the bottom of our heart for being there, even though we know that they do not want any thanks because they share with us the commitment and love for our projects.
